Our Story
Evolution Devices was founded in 2017 by Pierluigi Mantovani and Juan M. Rodriguez, both alumni of the University of California, Berkeley, and experienced in developing neuro-rehabilitative technologies.
Evolution Devices was born out of frustration with the existing mobility solutions. The team built the first prototype of the EvoWalk device for Pierluigi’s father, who struggles with foot drop caused by multiple sclerosis. Witnessing his daily challenges, they were motivated to create something that could help not just him but also millions of others facing similar struggles.
Our Technology
EvoWalk is a revolutionary muscle stimulator that uses cutting-edge machine learning and motion-tracking technologies to treat walking impairments and enable remote physical therapy.
EvoWalk’s stimulation timing controller is based on artificial intelligence that adapts to a wide variety of gaits (e.g.; different people, terrains, speeds, and activities).
In January 2024, the EvoWalk 1.0 System was granted FDA 510(k) clearance. EvoWalk is a non-invasive, wearable functional electrical stimulation (FES) device intended to provide ankle dorsiflexion and/or assist knee flexion or extension in adults with foot drop or muscle weakness related to upper motor neuron diseases or injuries (e.g.; stroke, multiple sclerosis, damage to pathways in the spinal cord).
The EvoVision is a markerless motion capture laboratory that uses four or more web-cameras to track kinematics (e.g.; joint positions and angles) and gait metrics (e.g.; step length) quickly and reliably.
EvoVision’s 3D motion capture system provides research grade biomechanical data, no markers or sensors required. The EvoVision is trusted by gait labs at Universities, Rehab Clinics, and top Children’s Hospitals around the US.
